Scribble Picnic: watering can

the only thing sprinkling
from watering cans
in my neck of the woods
is

snow!
Seems the winter fairy has entered spring.

4 fresh inches this week

Sentries

they stood true
her sentries
among the wild weaving weedy seeds
 her protectors
fungi who are from the underworld
and the heavens
~

snow has arrived
days are cold
nights even colder
pretty sure this snow is here for the season
so pretty under the light of the big moon
 at night

Beyond the Log Cabin Walls: DC: Threshold

she stood at the threshold
before stepping out
feeling into the essence of the world
allowing her breath
to meet the sway of the trees
the depth and height of the mountains
her heart to beat
to the song of the birds
felt her kinship with the world
and
she stepped out
~

it is lovely to be DC host this week
our theme:
threshold

DC: liminal, Yogini and Beluga Whale

deeply immersed
in her journey

in the liminal state

 earth woman
begins her transformation
to
woman of waters deep

soon to be
a mermaid
~

'Liminal' is a wonderful theme Veronica, as we
step back and forth
between seasons...
thank you!

yesterday we had our first snow of the season:

today, a bit more autumn in the air,
we seem to be in a liminal state:

Lovely Equinox to one and All ~

the ink drawing from the previous post
inspired this watercolor
in honor of Spring

on this first day of spring
half way between the shortest day of the year
and the longest day of the year
i woke to fresh snow!
(yes this is home sweet home)

one of my favorite spring
and summer
breakfasts:

Fairy Food

1 serving:
1 cup homemade almond milk
honey or agave to taste
1T + 1t chia seeds
1T. dried fruit - cherries or whatever you like
1T. dry coconut
sprinkle of spice, your choice: cinnamon, ginger, cardamon, vanilla

place in jar with lid and shake
a few minutes later shake well again
place in refrigerator over night
ready to enjoy in the morning

(if you don't shake it well, you will get lumps of gooey chia
seeds. Fairies would never eat that!)
enjoy

Lovely Spring or Autumn
to one and all!

D.C. Tattoo

years and years ago
in a night's dream
someone said: let me touch up your tattoo
i said: what tattoo?
she pointed to my torso
i lifted my top to find flowers and leaves
much like the painting above
but
they were alive and moving as well!
I loved it

funny thing is, that i have never wanted a tattoo
perhaps all my freckles
are enough body art for me

Spring

Winter into Spring
~
her friends say
wake up Sleeping Beauty
spring is here
let's play
~
*

I went to the wilderness (NW Montana) for the last day of winter
the first day of Spring

here we do not have green grass and flowers yet
but the snow melts daily
and
then snows  again
then rains again
a slow awakening
but we do see signs of life waking up from a long winter nap
and
the days are longer
equal to the nights
~

i stayed in a tiny
beautiful log cabin
made by a friend and many of his friends

no running water
no electricity
but it does have a wonderful wood stove

this is my sketch of it

it turned out to be a silent retreat
simply because i did not see anybody

i felt as though time slowed down
with no electricity

my days were full of skiing along the river
walking in Glacier National Park
drawing and painting
yoga
simple eating
and of course
tending the fire

it was a beautiful way to say farewell to Winter
and a warm hello to Spring

wishing each of you a lovely Spring

warmly,
Tammie

Mouse Friend

they are kin

~

Summer can be full to overflowing in the NW of Montana,
a time to do outdoor things that our long winters do not support.

One thing I have done is help Larry work on his tiny log cabin.

Staining windows:

 pre-chinking logs:

while he chalked around the corners of logs

so fun to see his cabin come to life!
