Scribble Picnic: creams

with each tight little bud that I see

Scribble Picnic

across the universe
is a world much like ours
but there
things that are large are small here
and things that are small there are large here

I wonder what kind of differences that would make

Scribble Picnic: Mushy

within the inner sanctum of his being
endless possibilities

he chooses
a love affair with life
~

Thank you Michael

(this might not seem very mushy
yet a love affair with love and life
is entirely intimate to me)

Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Scribble Picnic

Michael at Scribble Picnic gave us a shape to use in art this week:

at first I thought to use it in a tribal design

when I set pencil to paper
these little houses came to life

art is endlessly amusing to me that way
as though it has a mind of it's own

Thank you for hosting Michael

to see what others created wth this shape

Scribble Picnic: Blanket

the night forest was
lit up
by the light of the full moon
wrapped in a blanket
to keep the autumn chill from her bones
she walked through the night

Scribble Picnic: Watch Out!

it's that time of year
whether
autumn or spring

rains inspire the fungi
to rise through the earth
(or this one from dead wood)

offering treasures for us to find

so Watch Out
don't step on them
delight in their fairy like character
they come in so many shapes, sizes and colors!

Scribble Picnic: black and white

I drew the white bits with a masking liquid pen
and let it dry

then wet the sky with water and dropped black ink into it
(I learned this technique from Stephanie Law's

the landscape was painted with pure black ink

when dry I rubbed the masking away revealing the white

It was a fun thing to do and I think I would enjoy trying it again

visit:
to enjoy art by others for our theme.

Thank you Michael

Scribble Picnic: Curly

home sweet home
~

waiting for my dentist appointment
I drew this lady with curly hair
and
her colorful home
with curly smoke
and
curly clouds
 ~

later sitting in the lobby
looking a the floor
I spied this serpent in the grains of the wood
and
thought it a rather curly serpent

Scribble Picnic: square with and X

this week Michael chose a shape for us to work with:

I had a number of ideas, but somehow using the shape to inspire a design
is what won out.

I need a rug to go on my hard wood floor before winter, for warmth.
As I worked on this I saw it as a rug.

to see art by others with this shape in it somewhere, somehow.

Scribble Picnic: ladybug

hoping the leaf color
would beckon ladybugs to her

Scribble Picnic: Potted Plant

she dug a little hole
and hoped with all her heart
that the little swirly plant
would thrive and be happy in it's new home

~

This week I planted nine plants
and hoped with all my heart.....

also hoped that the deer and ground squirrels will  not eat them!

Thank you Michael for hosting us

Scribble Picnic: Tree

he leaned his forehead against the tree
quieted his thoughts
and
waited

his heart melded with the trees heart
the tree let flow
hundreds of years of stories

stories  about the birds that came to nest and sing
the fungi and lichen it gave home to
the fairies that lived beneath its roots
the insects that live in its bark

the lad came to know
those who rested in the shade of this tree
or found shelter from storm
he saw the lion that napped in its branches
and so much more

he learned that a tree lives a big life
a deep life
a generous life
roots embedded in the earth
limbs dancing with the grace of the heavens

this lad returned as often as he could
to rest his forehead and heart
against the tree
