Dreaming of Spring

this is what showed up while sketching
I wondered..... what is going on here

a snowshoe hare turn white in winter
browns the rest of the year

a winter rabbit in a spring/summer setting?

I believe this hare is dreaming of spring

today we are half way through winter
the days are noticeably longer
the birds stay out and busy a bit longer in the day

Life is full of changes

this is how it was before I painted it

Lovely Imbolc to one and all

AC: birds

spring is such a wonderful time to watch birds

to see them collecting grass
lichens
spiderwebs
to make nests

enchanted by their songs and calls

we get to wonder about their new born
hey, that is not a bird ;-)

I made a little book for spring birds
and
their eggs
:
new life

Thank you Eric for hosting our AC
with the theme:

Next Weekends DC: Pollinators

tears of honey
~

With Spring here on this side of the earth
it is a great time to consider: 'Pollinators

Droege said “Almost all the fruits and nuts, and a lot of the vegetable varieties, that we eat require some insect—usually bees—for pollination,”

here are some of our pollinators: bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, bats, ants, beetles, tiny rodents and more. So BIG Vast possibilities this week!

I saw my first butterflies of the year today! Two kinds, Mourning Cloak and an Compton Tortoiseshell:

also i found a tick on me, just walking around, did not bite me
I would say that Spring has begun!

let me know in the comments if you will post and share with us
March 28-29th
(if your link does not go straight to the blog you are posting on, then leave the link as well, pretty please)

also, even though we call it Drawing Challenge
it can be expressed anyway you imagine:
drawing, painting, writing, photos, food.....

recently I was thrilled to win a copy of Seth Apter's recent book:
Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed

this book overflows with questions to the artists
about how they feel about their art:

where do you find you inspiration
what emotions show up in your art work
what expresses the inner most you
and so on the questions continue
also
the book overflows with wonderful art!

I love learning about artists

Thank you Seth for the gift of your book!

I enjoyed how Karen mixed stitching on paper with her cloth fibre stitching

so I thought to give it a try
stitching and watercolors on handmade Khadi paper from India

these last few months i have enjoyed using
DoTerra high quality organic essential oils.

I am enjoying DoTerra fennel essential oil right now.
one drop in a glass of water,
quite refreshing!

Used for centuries for its many health benefits, Fennel essential oil has pronounced antioxidant properties and is considered a tonic. It is often used to relieve indigestion (supporting the healthy functions of the stomach), to aid in any kind of digestive issue and to support improvements to the lymphatic system. Fennel's sweet yet spicy aroma is balancing and has familiar licorice notes.

I love the taste of it!

If you are interested in learning more
or trying it yourself
you can visit my DoTerra store.

note: detailed hair inspired by: western cedar foliage:

Goddess Spring

goddess spring has shown her face
yet dances still with winters grace
snow does fall most days this week
flowers exist as sprouts
not even leaves
still lady spring
will persist
and sprinkle flowers in our midst
so faith I have that snow will grow
a green green summer
with a wonderful flower show

5 Braids

gazing
into the distant horizon
trusting
in the breath of the moment
feeling
the depth of endless potential
embracing
the woven textures of life

braids
~

desire to draw a braid rose
it was a hard puzzle to figure out
if only i looked in the mirror at mine!

5 Braids is a sumi ink sketch

there is something freeing about each line being what it is
no erasing and refining

Dreaming of Summer

recently a friend emailed a photo he took of me last summer
memories of:
the warmth of that day
the smell of the grass and clovers
our outdoor potluck
a stroll through the garden
inspired dreams of summer

also, to bath in the memory
of that delicious feeling of laying on the earth
I sat down to make a drawing
surrounded my the music of my friends (Barnyard Riot) having band practice

today is gray
even snowflakes float by from time to time
plants attempt to grow
yet days are not warm enough
we are still in the tango between winter and spring
~
wishing you a lovely Spring!
