Within

 do you ever

take pencil to paper and see where it leads you?

then sit back and take it to heart

and

interpret how it moves you?

or

prepare a meal and plate it up

then sit back and take it to heart and see how it moves you?

or watch the wind inspire the trees to dance

and interpret some special meaning for you or about life?

I enjoy doing this.

it is a bit like drawing a card for its message.

This young lad closed his eyes and settled within,

energy centers tangibly gained vibrance.

I hope to sketch more often

even daily, just for fun, just to see what shows up on the page.

Then to consider its meaning for me.

Does this drawing have a personal meaning for you?

Feathered Friend

Surely this was inspired by the forest birds...

A friend took this photo yesterday....
The birds are such a joy to interact with!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!
Happy Samhain!
(it truly does feel like the beginning of the cold, frozen time of
year. )

I feel drawn to consider and send prayers to those have passed before
loved ones and those I had not met

I send you love on your journey
may it be of grace
I miss you

Fairies and Elves

recently i sketched these faces
then over a week colored them

some of them changed quite a bit from the sketch

each face is about 1 inch square
not always easy to add the details
which can effect change

little characters
perhaps fairies and elves

or
primitive girls

DC: Second Hand

morning sketch
I usually draw from my imagination
it was fun to sketch from my yard

treasures can be found second hand
already
broken in
wonderfully worn
full of life's spirit

yesterday i was given this bench
(thank you Annie and Charlie!)
it's seat boards aged with life

i cleared a spot for it along my pond
raking the grasses with the copper 'second hand' rake

a place to sit
to sketch
to be
to sip
to chat with friends

a glimpse of the pond through
lovely details

the view from the bench
on this beautiful autumn morning

Sweet Equinox to you!
Happy Autumn too!

Baby Dashiel

I received a Christmas card with a photo of this darling baby boy
on it

before I knew it I was sketching away.

of course his cap was a solid tan color

I could not help but add our beautiful world to it
~
Usually I do not attempt to draw real people.
I enjoyed giving it a try.
I think I made him look a bit older....

hoping to use them on fabric, as well as occasionally in my art

do you have any suggestions for printing with stamps on fabric?
the best ink or paint?
how to make it permanent?

Reflection

quietly
deeply
she sat
until the light of the candle's flame
reminded her of her own light
~

i came across a sketch i did a while back:

I let it inspire this painting
what the first photo does not show is that there is an iridescent
gold  aura around the fairy and the candles flame, oh well
~

thank you for a wonderful month Alaya!

Little Cutie

i did this piece after watching one of Micki Wilde's lessons from her class
Paint Happy

Micki is a wonderful teacher who is entirely generous in her lessons, you might want to consider her class.

The Unfolding of a Drawing

first there is a feeling
an idea
an inner image
sometimes the shape of a face
the width of her eyes
or perhaps the thought of a walking stick

then a sketch begins to come to life

another wanderer
with her walking stick
protective hat
and energy auras that travel with her
offering insight
wisdom
and kinship
she walks in the ways of the elders
~
(sorry the final image is blurry)

recently,
asked if any of her readers would like a cloth bookmark
made by her

yes, i said
look what arrived in the mail:

it looks even more wonderful in person!
my tai chi teacher once gave me feedback:
look up

Thank you Annie!

Jester and Friend

to his heart through his eyes
that is simply how it is

this piece i did with a dip ink pen
this paper is quite smooth and i realized
that the pen likes to slide on ahead of me ;-)
always something to learn
