Foraging

a peaceful quiet life
~

most years I do a little bear painting

often of a bear
wandering the land
eating flowers
(because they do eat flowers, so do I)

I think also there is something about:
life in balance in these scenes
because nature seems to know "life in balance" naturally

~
wishing you a day that feels 'in balance'

Winter Solstice

Tis the shortest day of the year, here.

The bears are hibernating and I also have that sleepy spirit in me.
Going with the flow of more darkness, wood stove going in the wee cabin, the cold days and snow feels nurturing, gentle and restorative.
Also....
outside the cold air is invigorating and inspiring.

I wish you a blessed Solstice
whether it is with our short days
or long days where you are.

(this is an older piece and seemed perfect for today)

Bear and Birds

most certainly
living with bears,
though i rarely see them
is influencing my days
because i think of them when i walk out my door

they are in my dreams as well

i love thinking how I have seen them eating grass and flowers
and how one might find a bird sitting on them

GIve Away & DC: Spring Break

Veronica is our lovely host for DC

tis spring break for many people
I think of bears daily now
wondering when they will awaken
walk through my woods
so i am still painting bear landscapes in honor of them
~

has given me the opportunity to review their pencil sharpener:

It comes in 5 colors, I chose hot pink

above is the first step in sharpening a pencil
below is the second

Then you simply turn the handle to sharpen your pencil until it stops.

I of course chose a variety of art pencils to test. Prismacolor, pastel and charcoal pencils have been challenging with most sharpeners. Art pencils can be pricey, so having a lead break is not desirable.

These are the pencils i chose to sharpen:

here are the results:

Look at those amazing points, great for detail work!
If you don't want such a fine point simply don't sharpen till it stops.

I actually found that sharpening the pencil until the sharpener stops takes away TOO much pencil.
I began stopping half way and that gave me the points above, which I am thrilled with.

To see videos on how to use this sharpener, or how to take it apart for a broken lead:
~
I am super happy with this sharpener.

I get to give one away, wahoo!
I am sorry to say it is for USA addresses only,
darn for all my oversea friends.

So in the comments let me know if you would like a chance to win a sharpener.
Winner will be announced on my blog
March 18th

imbued by numen of winter
depth and stillness call to her

sitting tall
assisting energy to flow from her earth into her heavens

A Beautiful Life

Hello
I have just returned from shy of two weeks in Santa Barbara.

I went to visit loved ones
and to meet my grandson, Jayce!

While there I delivered the above commissioned painting.
Thank you so much Robyn!

Blessed Beltane

as Beltane is upon us
the half way mark between spring equinox and summer solstice
this painting came to life
a man and his kin bear
most likely because the bears around here have woken
they now walk  the earth with us
daily i think of them
~

Lovely Spring to you ~
