AC: Pillow

over the years I have made a few of these sweet little heart pillows

they are lovely on a Christmas tree
or hanging in a window
could be sweet for the upcoming holiday

a bit of silk ribbon embroidery
a bit of bead work

maybe the next one will be a different shape

when our dear Stephanie
chose pillow for our inspiration

well does the above ever happen to you?
feathers coming through the pillow and poking you when you are trying to sleep?
maybe my pillow is too old.....

visit Stephanies charming blog this weekend
to see what others have created for our theme:
Pillow

Thank you for hosting Stephanie!

Loving Linen

snowy winter days and nights
stitching beckoned

though these are details on the front of a purse/bag

I learned to love linen in a new way last summer

(photographed in this mornings soft light)

most of us have heard that
 on hot days
 loose linen garments are cooling
 to wear

last summer i experienced how true this is
air can move through loose natural fibers

plus linen feels like home
comfy, crisp but soft
alive yet cozy

I am not much of a seamstress
when i sew i find in the end i would have preferred to do things differently
such a math problem to make patterns as one goes

still i am enjoying this linen bag

DC: tiny

a tiny home
amongst vibrant life
 ~
inspired
by last weeks painting:

It was fun to pick up needles and thread

when i did
two sentries appeared
to hold the tiny world in their embrace:

the back:

within the forests embrace
wild love beauty and grace

It is my pleasure to host this weeks DC
with the prompt: tiny

please visit my artful friends
to see how they were inspired:

Faces.....

she came to life in sepia shades
they suited her spirit well

I seem to have faces scattered
throughout my cabin
piles and piles

of wee tiny faces

i believe the one above came to life
as i tested black pens in different thicknesses
to see which one i wanted to use

do you have faces piling up in your home?
;-)

Embroidery and Beaded Earrings

I love Karen Ruane's wonderful embroidery and stitching arts!
The cloth above she breathed life into for her daughter.

Sometimes she even stitches on paper:

recently I won two of her buttons in a give away on her blog.
They arrived today and are quite elegant and beautiful
thank you Karen xo:

treat yourself to a visit to her Etsy Shop
and Blog
or join her Online Classes!

I thought I would share with your one of my other arts....
beaded jewelry.
This will be the last pair I make like this
a rare delight:

Peaches and Blue

I am taking Jane Davenport's class Supplies Me

I painted the paper with gesso,
used prismacolor pencil, a blending exercise.
The background is done in inktense sticks and then a water brush taken to it.

some of you may know Abigail

It was her birthday yesterday
we shared a lovely day in Glacier National Park on Lake McDonald

she has always wanted a cuff
so I made this for her

there is something so special about making gifts for people we love

our hearts pour into the gift
filling it with treasures of light and love to bless their lives

I think it might actually be a gift to ourselves to fill gifts with love!

Happy Birthday Abigail!

Leaning towards Spring~

Hello and welcome to Beauty Flows.
I have another blog Spirithelpers, I share my nature photography and prose there. I found myself wanting a place to share other arts as they rise in my life. I seem to flit from one art to another, recently I have picked up needle and thread for the first time in years!

Here is my first piece. I was thinking it will be a bracelet. I won't really know until it is completed.

In honor of Spring~

I look forward to getting to know you through your blogs and what you share.
Thank you for your visit(s)!
