Blue Spirulina

I found this little sketch and thought wow, was I predicting the future?
Alone
at home
in her boat

~
recently I spilled a little blue spirulina powder
such a gorgeous color.
I wondered if I could paint with it, added water and it is the deep blue color in this painting.
Pretty color, but not one I consider using often.
fun to play with making paint.

Here is the spiralina paint in the paint palette.

Spirulina is a algae that is high in many nutrients.

Another Realm

 he appeared through a veil
from another realm
to deliver a message for her spirit only
with silent lips
his arms and hands delivered a vitality of sweet import

Depth of Quiet

the depth of quiet
eternal
rich
sublime
~
*

so interesting to draw/paint her
as above, a meditative expression

and

then to lay her this way:

she slept amongst the flowers
feeling the soil as her flesh
resting in the embrace of eternity
nourished in stillness sublime

Pink Realm

she lives in a pink realm
soft edges
ephemeral borders
skin transparent to energy tender
fluttering friends

her pink sky
filled with the sweet scent of lilies

yes she lives in a pink realm
that holds true to a soft heart
that sings purely
~
*

this piece started with a sketch I shared with you a couple of weeks ago:

I colored her face with prismacolor pencils
I love doing that

then I cut her out of the page
and prepared a 7"x16" piece of plywood with bits of colored paper, napkins and paint:

for the first time I coated the piece with beeswax
oh how i love
yes LOVE
the scent of beeswax
plus it makes for a soft realm:

though the very first photo in this post is the completed piece
from that photo it is hard to see the texture and softness that these side views show

Earthling Waterling

In my last post, I shared the original sketch for these pieces
with a poem about how a sketch is the beginning  of a dream.
I took that sketch and made two very different pieces.

Earthling Waterling

one life a mermaid
one life a modern gal
dwelling in the water world
walking on the earth
waves and wind caressing elements
simply being with what is
eternally
~

This modern gal is done with prismacolor pencils and a Faber Castell Pitt pen,
6"x12" Nature Sketch Pad 130 LB..

The Mermaid piece is done with watercolor pencils and crayons,
11"x14" Canson Britol Smooth, 100 LB.

Knowing Heart for Sunday Sketches

there is a natural knowing
in the heart of a mother
to let love live
in her children
love is passed on to her children
lives on
in their blood
in their heart
through the knowing
heart of a mother
 ~

I wish everyone a lovely Mother's Day

for everyone
has a mother

I bought some Lyra 'skin tone' pencils.
I love how different choices of color
are inspiring in new ways.

&
I must share with you a mother that I saw in the wilds of Montana last week:

HUGE TREE
Tall Tree

Black bear mama denning in this tree with her two cubs:

Mama, where are you going?
I think I will follow you:

the little bear did not follow, but any day now.

Totem

kinship with life
a quiet art

walking earth as solid ground
wild companions all around
wind and tree point the way
to a listening heart
that does not sway

~

still smitten with ink and brush:

*
This piece came from a guided meditation with Goddess Leonie
from 21 Secrets.

I listened to Leonie's half hour meditation
lying in a meadow, climbing a mountain, conversing with my wise elder self.

Her theme being: You are beautiful just as you are!

These are the animals that were with me on my journey.
I sat with the idea of making a journal page, this is what came to me,
to make my very own totem pole.
It was challenging to sketch animals and learn to paint them, yet quite satisfying to complete.

Goddess Leonie radiates the essence of us being beautiful just as we are,
which assists to experience the truth of what she shares.

Within, a Universe

like a faceted crystal is my spirit
made of friends from many realms
we blend and flavor our
thoughts
words and deeds
together we are
summer autumn winter
and yes
spring
we breathe bloom
and flower
laugh cry and share
when you meet me
you greet
our universe
~

I was so surprised how spring like this piece came out, simply because I have been submersed in winter's spirit for so many months.
Nice to feel in sync with the season.
I sat down to draw the other night, simply wanted to draw a girls face, something familiar, nothing new to learn, something I could be a little mindless with.
Then all these faces showed up one by one.
They felt as though they were aspects of the central person.
Then the poem came.
