Scribble Picnic: Watch Out!

it's that time of year
whether
autumn or spring

rains inspire the fungi
to rise through the earth
(or this one from dead wood)

offering treasures for us to find

so Watch Out
don't step on them
delight in their fairy like character
they come in so many shapes, sizes and colors!

  1. What a great boot, love the detail, and the action shot...stopping just short of stepping on that sweet little mushroom. Lots of nice detail here. Great idea.

  2. Lovely sketch, Tammie! I like the thought process behind it too. I hope the person in that boot side-stepped just in time. :)

    1. Yes, just in time. But stepping on them happens sometimes. Mushrooms seem almost invisible quite often.

so harmonious is the picture of the destructive fury of people, especially the mushrooms that are now growing everywhere!
Great picture for all the fairies and their other inhabitants!

    1. Thank you Elke. I imagined another piece that was from further away of a fairy yelling at a human: watch out!

  5. I try hard never to step on one -- because I might squish a fairy!

    1. Ah, so sweet of you.
Mushrooms are the fruit of the plant/being etc.... like picking an apple off a tree, so really not that bad. Unless there is a fairy using it like an umbrella.

  6. Great painting. I never see a mushroom that I don't think of elves and fairies, like in that poem The Elf and the Dormouse.

  8. Funny, I was just commenting to my husband that there were an awful lot of mushrooms around lately. And not just in our town. We were away for the weekend and they were all over, especially under the evergreens. I wanted to stop and take a picture because it looked like a village for gnomes and fairies. This is a wonderful reminder not to destroy them. Well done!

    1. Fun that you are seeing mushrooms. Only a few here so far, but with the rain we have had I am hoping for more. I also love photographing them.

  11. I'm seeing toadstools etc. popping up here and there in some damp spots underneath pots of ivy - guess the nights are getting cooler but our days are still far too hot for me at 90F!
Lovely illustration Lissa - makes me want to get my boots out and go walking in the woods.

We went from 90F to 50F in one week!
Summer was over a little early.

      Wishing you a cool breeze.

  12. Great drawing again Like the way you have drawn the toadstool bending its head, hope it managed to avoid the boot.

  13. they are all over around here but they don't look like the cute fairy type ones, the ones here look more like they are for an evil dead fairy :p

    1. So when you wrote: more like they are for an evil dead fairy
I wonder what sort of mushrooms they are! Are they dripping black inky stuff?

  14. I hope the owner of that boot realizes in time that they are about to squish a lovely fungi ... this is so clever and I love the message as we have little fungi emerging all around us and I do watch out for them. Love this, Tammie Lee ...
