recently i received a sketchbook make by Stillman and Birn

I Love it!

it is 7x7 inches wirebound

the paper is gorgeous at 180 lb.

and does great with watercolors!

I have been disappointed with many art papers for not holding up to wet paint,

but NOT this journal!

Thank you Stillman & Birn for your gorgeous art paper!

I look forward to trying your other journals.

sitting under the autumn sun

enjoying creating art outsie

Elfin Light

it's the light that caught her eye
not the wildly fun fungi scattered in the forest
for they were her friends and she knew they were there
but the light
it called her name
whispering of the magic that ran in her veins

~

there is a lot of metallic paint in this piece
photos rarely show this fact...

Like an Amazon, this Woman

she stood tall in her slinky legs
with golden light shining forth from her inner eye
friend to those who flutter by
sharing the glistening of their wings
hers was a slightly different planet
than the one that we call home
yet heart and light
shine just as bright
as the loving ones we know

please bare with me while i learn to draw full bodies.

though my art is a bit naive in nature, i have to say I am having a blast.

i am so happy to take step after step in learning to express myself through art, and full bodies is a great next step for me.

2011's Setting Sun

it was in the glamour of the setting sun
colors calming
light enlivening
a year coming to an end

she opened to absorb all the colors of a passing year
spheres of insight rose within and around her
2012 a new beginning

she will bring her heart fully
as she steps gently

yet deeply
wings rising
vision flowing
and growing
for peace love and freedom
for all
welcome 2012

Kin with Deer

~

I watched Mindy Lacefield's art video

I felt inspired to learn from what she shared

I love how she layers paints

this piece began without a sketch

simply a brush, acrylics and lots of layers

I love the freedom of her style

a looseness

Thank you Mindy!

Paint Party Friday ~

in the evenings

wanting to do art

without much thinking

I sketch swiftly

color with watercolor pencils

(loving Derwent Inktense for their vibrant colors)

and quickly brush with water

fun fast(er)

inspiring a looseness in my art, i think

perhaps it is simply fun

but also somehow nurturing

because I loose myself in the moment

a sort of meditation

these three are what I share for PPF

please join us or visit us to enjoy wonderful paintings!

also, it is my pleasure to share Amaila K!

Most likely many of you know Amaila, her gorgeous mystically charming art

and her generous sharing heart.

Recently I ordered dreamy beautiful art from her,

she was including an amazing gift of a tiny painting for anyone who bought from her store, an ACEO.

The package arrived and was filled with her magic

in the form of art:

Treat yourself by visiting her blog: Translucent Blue

Her Webstore: The Wish Forest

Maybe you too would enjoy purchasing one of her gorgeous pieces!

Thank you Amalia!

Earthling Waterling

In my last post, I shared the original sketch for these pieces

with a poem about how a sketch is the beginning  of a dream.

I took that sketch and made two very different pieces.

Earthling Waterling

one life a mermaid

one life a modern gal

dwelling in the water world

walking on the earth

waves and wind caressing elements

simply being with what is

eternally

~

This modern gal is done with prismacolor pencils and a Faber Castell Pitt pen,

6"x12" Nature Sketch Pad 130 LB..

The Mermaid piece is done with watercolor pencils and crayons,

11"x14" Canson Britol Smooth, 100 LB.

original sketch:

3 Versions of: Sphere

hello lovely friends

when i made this initial sketch

i had a hard time deciding how to complete it

for the experience I did three versions

the top version is watercolors

the one below is prismacolor pencils and the third (bottom)

piece was done with sumi ink with a watercolor brush

to look within

to listen with heart

brings us present

to the magical arts

~

do you like one more than another?

I would love to hear which one and why.

I ask simply for fun, to get to see through your eyes.

I know we all have different taste,

I would love to broaden my perception through you.

Goddess Spring

goddess spring has shown her face
yet dances still with winters grace
snow does fall most days this week
flowers exist as sprouts
not even leaves
still lady spring
will persist
and sprinkle flowers in our midst
so faith I have that snow will grow
a green green summer
with a wonderful flower show

Angel Blue

look into my eyes
feel into your heart

planted there is all you need
for every moment that you breathe
remember
always
~

hello
i want to share
that as i drew
then painted angel blue
i felt like she was telling me things:
to have courage to honor my dreams
to fly with my highest truth
to find my courage and let it guide each breath
she holds a unwavering gaze
penetrating until we hear what she has to say

perhaps she has a message for you?

do your paintings have spirits
that speak to you?

Crowned in Lime

met with an intimate stance
