Earthling Waterling

In my last post, I shared the original sketch for these pieces
with a poem about how a sketch is the beginning  of a dream.
I took that sketch and made two very different pieces.

Earthling Waterling

one life a mermaid
one life a modern gal
dwelling in the water world
walking on the earth
waves and wind caressing elements
simply being with what is
eternally
~

This modern gal is done with prismacolor pencils and a Faber Castell Pitt pen,
6"x12" Nature Sketch Pad 130 LB..

The Mermaid piece is done with watercolor pencils and crayons,
11"x14" Canson Britol Smooth, 100 LB.

Butterfly Girl

her wings
made of energy
only some could see
she
a quiet flighty one
full of dreams yet to be
if you sense into her heart
you'll find a spiral dance
you'll sense her wings of dancing light
a bit like a butterfly's stance
~

oh! her face is so pink in this scan, her face is more light peach
and her top and hair a gray, oh well.

I have begun taking 21 Secrets
began with Jane Davenport's class
she asked to show her our 'doodle'
you know, what ever little thing that we have been sketching throughout life

well I have been sketching little energy spheres like in the wings above forever
do you have a doodle?

She is of the Earth

she
is of the mountains
spirit
holds true course
rooted
in the depths of soil
home for all
because she's born
of earth
~

recently Karen of Contemporary Embroidery
posted some of her beautiful art
it is a mix of paper with holes punched in it and stitching
She told me I should try it.
This is one of her amazing pieces:

you will have to visit her
to enjoy the rest!

and
visit her Etsy Shop

I will play with this more.....
I took a photo of this post card size art
against the window so that you can see the holes
no stitching in this piece

but somehow this is inspiring
and stitching on another piece will happen some day!
