#23 of 29 Faces

she rose from the Sleeping Beauty mountains
mountains where veins of turquoise thrive
no longer asleep
with a crystal at her third eye
~

the splash to the far left
is a drop of red wine
so i splashed some more
such a pretty color!
~

to enjoy faces from around the world

Confidence

she knows who she is

~
this week i had a unique experience
i saw a big swoosh through the air, a great gray owl landed on a tree, then here on the ground, a second later it was in the pond, then up in the trees....

so cool to see it sitting on the ground and then jump in the water!

the photo was taken from inside and through a glass window:

Elf and Plaid

playing with movement in fabric
and watercolors

mostly used three colors
red, yellow and blue
all the colors below came from them
i might have used a couple more in the elf painting above

Spring is still unfolding here
i found flowers yesterday:

Yogini and Friends

I believe this began by spying the shape of an elephant in the texture of a tile floor

it sat in my sketchbook for months

the other day.... the yogini joined in
then the scene
it was not until i tossed her clothing and boots on the forest floor
that it all came together for me

I enjoy the mystery of each piece

~
I shared this photo
the top of a small pine tree
on my photography blog
i am so moved by it
that i will also share it here

www.spirithelpers.net

the protective needles
the protective skin on the flowers? in the shape of a star
is that where people got the idea of a star on top of a Christmas tree?
Someone thought this is a fir tree.
Do any of you know what sort of pine or what we are seeing here?

D.C. Tattoo

years and years ago
in a night's dream
someone said: let me touch up your tattoo
i said: what tattoo?
she pointed to my torso
i lifted my top to find flowers and leaves
much like the painting above
but
they were alive and moving as well!
I loved it

funny thing is, that i have never wanted a tattoo
perhaps all my freckles
are enough body art for me

~
This weeks Drawing Challenge is hosted by:

Tilt to Listen, Tilt to Receive

whenever i create a woman with her head tilted to the side
i think of my friends pup, Lucy:

she has snow on her nose in this photo

I created this sketch while flying a couple weeks ago
it took so many layers of paint until i was happy with it

Blessings of Samhain to You

though autumn filled her days
and nights
she became a nest of new life for Samhain

~

a bit of information about Samhain:

*this year it is celebrated from
sunset on October 31 to sunset on November 1, almost halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice.

*It is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Imbolc, Beltane, and Lughnasadh.

*It's considered a liminal time, when the veil between life and death grows thin.

*Samhain is pronounced "sah-win" or "sow-in."

*it is one of the original festivals behind the holiday we know as Halloween

*As it was believed that faeries, witches, and demons roamed the earth on Samhain, food and drink were customarily set out to placate them. Later on, people began dressing up as these creatures and claiming the goodies for themselves, sometimes performing antics or tricks in exchange for food and drink.

 above info taken from a
wonderful article about Samhain found here: Huffington Post
