29 Faces, day 1

crown of candles
to light ending winter days
  in honor of Imbolc tomorrow:

Gaelic festival marking the beginning of spring.

well maybe if you are in California it feels like spring
but here in Montana i have snowflakes falling,
landing on my frozen creek:

yea
looking forward to sharing with all of you
and seeing your faces
thank you Alaya for being our lovely host!

Election's Eve

as a dear friend replaced my plumbing today
i found myself drawing a Buddist monk

in meditation
~
i thought about our country
the USA
our election tomorrow

my heart leans towards all hearts
may we consider the best path
for all life
on planet earth
 ~
may we consider paths that support life
of trees
 of flowers
 fungi
and critters
all people

may peace and health and love
reign on earth

with love,
Tammie

Youth

he is a young genie
spunky
more sure of himself than is wise
 his determination for adoration
pushed him
revealing his weaknesses
and
bruising his pride

this began as a sketch
in a wee book (5.5"x7")
page coated in Casein white paint

then i smeared oil pastels here and there
and rubbed
added watercolors
straight from the tube
i thought i was done here:

nope, final it the top image
~

not until i took this photo did i read the words
of this page
perhaps it would be good to read this beautiful book
before i cover it with art!

face 28

he rose from the page of a book
ready to live life in the outer world
a bit timid
yet full of curiosity
he was born

I had to give Lynne Hoppe's technique another try
it is fun to blend different materials together
thank you Lynne xo

usually watercolors on untreated paper would make the paper wavy
but putting watercolors straight from the tube on top of oil pastels
or even straight on the paper as in his hair and the page of the book remained nice
love that!

italy:

streets have organic paths
no straight streets and alleyways
