DC: Shinrin Yoku, Forest Bathing

as the birds flew over
the thick forest

looking down and among the trees

they spied
a wee fairy bathing
in her mushroom pool

my ponds have been frozen all winter
today i spied
5 of the 6 koi where fresh water enters the pond

their entire life is about
forest bathing

bathing under the canopy of trees
bathing in the water at the ankles of the forest

amazing how they slow down
basically meditate
for winter

Thank you Veronica

    1. the first winter I wondered about the fish, actually every winter i do.
they offer a glimpse once in a while as they come to the surface and light.
      this is their 4th winter.

  2. Hello, fish! Welcome back to the world! And what a bright spot of color you bring us. Your first image reminds me of lots of labyrinths together. Of course it isn't but still, what a lovely thought!

  4. Beautiful work and wise words - nature gives us good examples, we need perhaps to get in tune more with the seasons. Hugs, Valerie

  9. Dear Tammie,
even I flew over a forest...
Your drawing is very adorable! My eyes get really big at your kois... what an image: at the trees' feet, snow, ice and then the fishes. Great!

  16. Oh that's charming! Those fish! I remember my grandmother had a tiny garden pond with tiny goldfish which froze in winter and those fish were just fine come spring. Amazing creatures.

  20. Tammie, I love your drawing of the sweet little fairy in her bathtub! I'm also amazed that those koi can survive out there in those cold winters you have. Magic is everywhere!
