Gesso to the Rescue

this is a face that i began the end of April
i drew it with inktense pencils and took a brush with gesso to the pencil
to turn it to paint

something that was wonderful:
her eye, the one to the left was seriously wonky
so i covered it with gesso
sketched it new
and i feel better about it

it is a good experience to simply paint over something and give it another go
very freeing

  1. A wonderful work! And I love her brown hair! I am glad for having found the gesso! I too have made corrections like that, and it's fun to experience with gesso I think :)

  2. It's always fun to experiment and discover new things you can accomplish with a medium. Horray for Mr. Gesso for saving this lovely blue lady! :))

  3. Good old gesso, what a hero to save a damsel in distress. I know hes always been there to resue my ladies too(and hes resued a few now!).
Beautiful outcome though, something about that blue.

  10. I love using those Inktense pencils the colours are so very bright and cover well don't they? It's a brave thing to redo parts of a painting but so very satisfying when it turns out better! :)
