beneath these layers of paint

lie a sweet and romantic poem

 

these acrylic faces i have been making 

take so much time!

layers and layers of color and texturing

dc: Mood Board

 'she senses the inner realm of life

within her planet

as within herself

a crystalline realm 

of power and beauty'

it began with a sketch

inked with a dip pen in sepia ink

then played with watercolors

so fun

when i considered our drawing challenge this week: mood board

i thought of filling a page

with things that my spirit finds joy in 
and this painting came to life

Jester and Friend

she loves to dance for him

he loves to take her dancing in

to his heart through his eyes

that is simply how it is

this piece i did with a dip ink pen
this paper is quite smooth and i realized 
that the pen likes to slide on ahead of me ;-)
always something to learn

Marta's Sketch Book

our realm of blogging

on line classes

we meet people

whom we have never met

in person

yet become part of our hearts 

one day i received this gorgeous journal in the mail

from my dear friend Marta

she is a magical artist

and woman of heart and care

i feel honored to call her my friend

i decided to make this a pen sketch book

no pencil

no paint

no erasing 

for the pens i use are permanant

the above was done with a dip pen

eating at Loula's cafe

trying to note details of a woman across from me

without disturbing her meal and privacy

NOT easy!

this actually looks a bit like her

was done as the sun set... into Stillwater Lake:

I love doing art outside

During summer, mosquitoes get in the way

winter; freezing temps

Swirly (above)

is an imaginary being

being of the branches

and the wee fairy kin

are imaginary friends

Pixie Dust

under the spell of pixie dust

they slept

and slept

even the pixie fell under the spell

if it weren't for the roses in her dream

that called to the 

butterfly and moth 

and the fluttering of their wings

they might have slept forever
