Promise of Spring

more than a promise of spring
in her wee terrarium
all winter long
with love and protection
she holds
the first sprout
for the birth of spring

an example of where my inspiration comes from:

  1. What a lovely sketch and what a breath of spring you've added to my day!!! It's been rather dark and dreary for a stretch, here on Van Island, hopefully spring is on the way soon. Looks like you've still got a lot of snow though!!!

    Have a wonderful week!

    1. It has been milky gray here quite a bit too. February seems to be the month that gets to a lot of people. So far I am still enjoying snow, ice and shoveling and plowing. Thank you so much.

  2. I remember watching Bob Ross painting "happy trees." His trees weren't nearly so happy and magical as yours!

    1. Sometimes I imagine stirring too. I think it will be the warmth of the sun that will truly get them to stir.

  11. How utterly charming! I love this picture with the wonderful Seussian trees speckled with snow. I could never be as patient as her. Thank goodness she's the one in charge with the birth of spring. And I certainly wish we got that much snow in our mountains here. I must say, I'd be tempted to sit on it, too.

  13. Oh I like the snowy trees and their beautifully coloured trunks. Has the lady captured a leaf? (only for a little while). Isn't it interesting to see the Real Life photo which was the inspiration for this fairy-tale painting.
I think this is one of your best.

  15. There were a couple of days that felt like the promise of Spring. Some trees have blossoms blooming already. The chill of winter mornings and evenings is still here to enjoy. Love the painting and how you drew/painted the trees.
