my friend, Elaine
gave me some beautiful fabric
remnants
i think this is a mix of cotton and silk
so soft and yummy
i cut it this way and that
hoping to piece together a skirt
wanting to hand stitch with thick thread
using no zipper
made it loose enough to slide on
and cinch up with a belt
It was a wonderful project
for these ongoing smokey days
due to SO many fires
it is said the fires will not go out
until the snow arrives
and
quenches their thirst

often my road looks like this:
now it is looking like this:

Wow -- those photos really tell the story of your once blue skies. The skirt is beautiful. I am a tad envious of those who sew so well! The fabrics are beautiful -- a wonderful combo. VERY nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your lovely messages on the skirt and care over our fires. It is pretty intense. We will all be hoping for an early winter.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric and such a lovely skirt you created from it! That's terrible how there's so much smoke in the sky. I hope it'll start raining soon, it's such a shame the forests going up in flames ....
ReplyDeleteThat is a truly lovely fabric and the belt matches it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI fear for all the creatures in the forests and the birds, that's heart-breaking.
I love love love your skirt!! I have been thinking about making myself a new skirt and now I want to get to it sooner.
ReplyDeleteHope these fires burn themselves out before the snow. So many homes lost, so many trees. You've view is so beautiful. Hopefully you are far enough away from the flames. xx
I look forward to seeing your skirt moongirl!

ReplyDeleteSuch a difference in those two views - it seems such a shame. Keep safe.
Wow, that IS gorgeous fabric. I love the skirt you made. It's really beautiful, and what a great contrasting pattern on the hem!
