Yellows and Violet or Yellow Violet

these two have something in common

loving spring
wandering through the woods
and
once in a while
eating a violet

Rosy

she looked
into their eyes
with calm in her heart
willing to simply be with them

~
i found this budding beauty
rising from a mound of moss
at the base of an abundant waterfall

i see tender attention
loving protection
reminiscent  of two lovers, caring friends
or mother and child

i have no idea what plant it is
i see new life
and beauty

Happy Mother's Day

Lesson Learned, use good paper

seems the 29 faces has me in a rhythm of creating faces

this one began as a pencil sketch
then watercolors on top:

ink sketch for meditative fun

the shading makes her look like she could use a shave
might have to rethink that technique ;-)

this last piece is a lesson learned
the paper is nice for sketching, ink and light washes
i tend to layer my watercolors
this paper warped and would not take layers in a blending way

i could not get effects that i wished for
and
abandoned attempting to take it somewhere that pleased me

lesson: use good paper that will take water and paint
i thought i had learned that lesson ;-)

also, i saw my first robin of the season today!

Little Mermaid, face 3

this face and yesterdays were done in a tiny (3.5x5 inches) sketchbook
it was a Kickstarter project that was funded

it is called:
The Perfect Sketchbook

tiny faces are usually quite challenging for me
