Abstract Realm

While laying low this week
And in between chores
I drew
Layers and layers of colored pencils
Hours and hours of drawing, and it is a small piece.
5.5x6"
Really fun to feel into it as it came to life, what is my spirit expressing?
So different for me, I think.
Maybe I needed some color in our deeply gray winter wonderland…...

Lovely weekend and beyond to you

  1. I'm not very good at color pencil techniques. This shows just how much one can do!

    1. I think with colored pencil one has to go slow, building up the colors, but surely there are all kinds of ways to use them. I thought, years ago, that colored pencils would be my main art tool. Eventually watercolors took over.

  2. These soft organic shapes are gorgeous, somehow mysterious and inspiring, and I love the way you've blended colors. Interesting to see how artwork emerges from the simple act of sitting with your materials and being willing to stay with page as you work. Here's hoping signs of spring begin to emerge soon in your area!

    1. Hello Anno,
Thank you for your message. I had to stay with this piece quite a while until it felt complete. So you are right, the simple act of sitting and creating. Spring will be soon.... although the first half of spring here is brown, wet and muddy. It is the second half of spring where plants are growing and blooming.

  3. That's interesting and colors are good for heart and soul, that's why your picture is beautifully painted with the curves as well, hopefully it will be warmer, have a good time Elke

    1. Fun to hear your thoughts on color. I love colors, working with them and simply seeing them in our world.

  4. Oh, that art piece is interesting. I like all the colors. Our Winter is all white and pretty right now, as we have been buried in snow. But Spring will arrive in its own time.

You really are a talented artist, Tammie Lee, in painting and photography. : )

  7. I like this. I like how colorful this is. There's movement and light and shadows, abstract but still kind of saying this could be a nice day.

    Have a lovely day.
