Loving Linen

snowy winter days and nights
stitching beckoned

though these are details on the front of a purse/bag

I learned to love linen in a new way last summer

(photographed in this mornings soft light)

most of us have heard that
 on hot days
 loose linen garments are cooling
 to wear

last summer i experienced how true this is
air can move through loose natural fibers

plus linen feels like home
comfy, crisp but soft
alive yet cozy

I am not much of a seamstress
when i sew i find in the end i would have preferred to do things differently
such a math problem to make patterns as one goes

still i am enjoying this linen bag

  3. I enjoy linen as well. I'm not a good stitcher -- I lack the patience. So when I see this my heart just smiles, great big smiles! It's simply lovely!

  4. Linen is such a beautiful material and what you've done is great, I love it so much and can well imagine how relaxing and enjoyable this must have been to do on a cold Winter's night. A super bag, it feels so natural and simple, just what I love!

the bag is full of pockets to hold this and than as well as a big pocket in the back, just did not photograph all of that.

  11. I nearly missed this, and I am so glad I didn't. Your embroidery on linen is so original with lovely delicate stitching.
And isn't that lovely how you have displayed it with your garden tools.
Your bag looks wholesome and organic - I am not sure if these are the right words but I think you will know what I mean.

  12. Ooooh! Very cool embroidery. They look like a collection of islands that I'd like to visit one day. The bag is fantastic! I love linen, but I'm loathe to wear it, because I hate ironing. Having a linen bag is a great way to enjoy the beauty of linen without all the wrinkles. Great idea!
