She paints Her world beautiful ~

she paints her world beautiful

her paintbrush much like a witch's broom
and
a fairie's wand

breathes magic into the stones
mushrooms and home of her life
as she births them
with
color

~

A while ago I bought a mini palette from Stephanie Law
I found it hard choosing the 37 colors

finally I took all my colors
made swatches
which I could lay out and ponder which one's I use/like most
(a project I wanted to do for choosing colors for paintings)

I have since placed these color squares in plastic coin sleeves
blues on one page, browns the next and so on
so nice and orderly ;-)

amazing how even doing these squares satisfied my art craving

the palette is shy of 3" across
tiny
tiny
tiny
I used it on this painting
and
I was delighted that it worked quite well

it will be wonderful for hikes and traveling

  1. Everything about this post I love. Love so much -- your witchy woman with her wand of a broom, and especially your paints. I love seeing people's paints and swatches. I need to do the swatches with some new ones I have. And your color wheel! Wow -- that's VERY impressive. Cannot tell you how much this post inspires me.

    1. Thank you so much for loving this post.
I also enjoy seeing people's art supplies, especially the ones they travel with.
I hope to see how this has inspired you Jeanie!

    1. Thank you for enjoying the colors, that is always a fun part of creating art. I use to have a jewelry business, made with tiny beads and gemstones, the colors were a huge part of that.

As the week goes on I realize this painting is so much about my life now. In trying to heal cancer I am delving into every aspect of myself and painting my life anew. I had no idea when I began this piece what it was about to me, not even until days after sharing it with words, then it came to me. This is exactly what I am doing. Painting wandering thoughts with present thoughts, Changing diet to raw food and 8 juices a day, Painting my world new, every bit.

    1. I will have to share the sleeves, maybe with my next piece. I do love glancing at choice to choose a color, quite helpful!

  5. This is astonishingly good, Tammie, I seriously love it. She lives in a pretty enchanted house with a pebble path and dresses for a day out in her three-buttoned maroon cloak with a one star emblem. This painting is not large enough to contains all the detail and yet magically (by you) it does. I love seeing the swatches and the tiny, tiny palette with all the many colours.

    1. Thank you so much Sheila! I also think her house is enchanted, of course it is ;-), with lovely life giving energy.
You are so dear to consider the details, that requires slowing down and considering. I am so happy to have the swatches handy and orderly now. fun fun.

  6. I started making paint swatches last year and it is so useful. I also love to look at them :) Love your swatches, I spy a few my favourites there too. Wow! That is a tiny palette!! 37 colours are much better than my tiny 12 colour palette. The lady in your painting is beautiful. I love her red robe. Her paintbrush made me think of a wizard's staff. Love the idea of her painting the world with her magic paintbrush.

    1. Dear Soma,
Lovely to have you stop by. I agree, swatches are useful. I started mine a while ago, filling them as I used colors. But that was taking a while. This palette inspired completing the project. I will share soon how I have them organized.

The paintbrush also reminds me of a magical wand or wizards staff, maybe more so since it is so big. I have replaces witch's brooms with paintbrushes for years, in all my witch paintings. I love the little humorous play of doing so. Plus I have never seen it anywhere else.

    1. Thank you Jennifer.
Yes, I took time deciding too. Then when I saw how tiny the spots are for each color.... I wondered if I would be happy with it. I am happy with it. But I have not taken it traveling yet, just at home.
