lately I find myself enjoying botanical art
I love looking at pieces that others have made
I enjoy my whimsical art much more
due to the creative aspect
botanical art is more technical
which is nice in a different way
I took this lesson at Anna Mason's school
I adore succulents
and
find them so beautiful

DeleteThis is such a beautiful painting, Tammie. I spent a long time just looking at it - the multitude of shades and tones just bring it to life.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to look at it. It took a day of laying paint!
DeleteGorgeous painting! I took a botanical illustration class once and absolutely hated the detail work. I loved the results, but I decided that precision was just not for me.
ReplyDeleteThe detail work takes a long time!
DeleteThank you for enjoying.
Gorgeous watercolor! You have a soft touch like my Mom does! Thanks too for your sweet comment on my post!
ReplyDeleteThank you for you lovely message.
DeleteOne must be more disciplined with botanical art -- you are doing it so very well!
ReplyDeleteYes, it took an entire day.
DeleteThank you Jeanie.

Yes, so many flowers can be like a rose. thank you.
DeleteOh Tammie! This is delightful--fills my eyes it does! Such a gorgeous painting!

DeleteIt does look more technical, but it sure is pretty! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, trying to exact a painting from a photograph......
DeleteSo beautifully done!! The gorgeous layering of colors and the brilliant hues of color-highlights upon each leaf, so awesome! Wonderful sharp edges and precision..both elegant and magical..I am sure you spent a good long while creating this fantastic piece!! Awesome art as always Tammie, love it, very meditative. I find technical work fun when I am in a deep thinking mood! yes, Botanical art is amazing..I love old books and collections, it is an intriguing realm.

Thank you so much for your lovely message. You are so right, it took a good while, a day or more to make, layer after layer.

Dear Tammie, you fill a botanic drawing with soul! Excellent work!
ReplyDeletethank you Dori, it was fun to do.
DeleteWhat a beautiful art work of a succulent, I grow them in lots of places around the garden. I love your log cabin!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely message. I love my cabin too ;-)
Deletelol, I was thinking artichoke :) But thought the leafs was to much spread out :) My mistake :)
ReplyDeletethis is marvelous! And I so agree with how some plants are technical and I'd add even mathematical.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Tammie, this is gorgeous! It's not so easy with so many petals pointing in all directions, but you have made it look so effortless and beautiful. I love succulents, mostly because they can withstand my neglect. Though I did manage to kill a baby succulent recently.... :( Really, really, really love this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous plant painting! I love it.
ReplyDeleteSucculent but those thorns at the end are very sharp.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the shading and the details in your painting.
ReplyDelete-Soma
I would definitely buy that at the market. Excellent art. Blessings, Janet
ReplyDeletethat is so pretty and green :)
ReplyDeleteBotanical art is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI love succulents too. I have to say that I find botanical art a soulless type of painting but your painting here is not at all like that - you've painted the plant as it is and it is totally recognisable but you have given it something else - which I can't quite find words for - maybe you have painted a plant with a personality? - a plant which is alive?
ReplyDeletePrachtig werk Tammie prachtig hier houd ik van
ReplyDeletelevens echt...........
