Hi, I have been researching sharpening pastel pencils, and it is recommended using a razor blade or a very sharp utility knife to initially sharpen them, and then using sandpaper to make the point fine. There are YouTube videos and tips on the Derwent site. Derwent also has special sharpeners for them. I am going to try a sharp utility blade and sandpaper, then I will let you know how they work .
