I love the layers in the top image Tammie. The text showing through like shadows barely visible. It is beautiful... http://karenannruane.typepad.com/karen_ruane/

Tammie. really interesting technique on the face. I was scrolling down and I am smitten your "acorn nymph". Love her airiness, her coy expression and her colors...plus, I have a thing for acorns.
Viola, the second one I did on a paper bag, it was on a package i gave someone. I think that helps make it look interesting.
hi Jeri,
you mentioned the interesting technique on the face.I learned it from Lynne Hoppe. The paper is not very durable, so i begin with oil pastels which acts as a protective medium as well as color. then i layer between watercolor crayons or watercolors straight out of the tube (no water as it would bubble up on top of the oil pastels. then i smoosh the colors around with my finger or something else. it is a fun and freeing thing to create. If i am not happy, i keep on going until i like it.
let me know if you try it.
xo thanks also for enjoying the acorn nymph, it is fun to try new expressions.
Ahhh, wonderful serenity and beauty in these pieces. :) The printed words in the first piece make me think that she is lost in deep thought. And for realz? The secone was done on a paper bag? That's awesome!
