her favorite place to meditate
is
floating above
~
this weeks theme for
treat yourself to a visit to see what others are creating.
~
I ordered a watercolor sampler
from Legion
8.8 x 11"
gorgeous papers!
It came in a beautiful folder that feels as though it is made of watercolor paper:
This painting is on Lanaquarelle CP 140#,
it feels rough to the touch, I enjoyed the texture.
I could scrub/lift some paint off better than
other papers. I would love to work with it again.
Wonderful to try something new
and
I look forward to trying the other papers.

What a special paper your drawing is, the picture for the theme of the ladder ... she sits up there good!
ReplyDeleteGoodnight
Elke
Thank you Elke.
DeleteSweet dreams.
that is exactly what I was going to draw but then I sort of got distracted and didn't do anything about it. but I like your piece, maybe she should already be up there, floating and reading or mediating? a wonderful take on the theme.
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
It would have been fun to see our similar, yet surely, different pieces. I thought of making a second piece with her up in the clouds meditating. This sketch happened first, so one at a time.
DeleteThank you.
Lovely evening to you!
after I saw your drawing, I decided to work on my version and I even posted it, though no color yet. thanks for the inspiration!
Deletehave a lovely day.
You know Tammie Lee, I'm really REALLY enjoying your weekly scribbles! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Rain!
DeleteYou've painted such a peaceful scene, this would make a beautiful wall picture (as would so many of your paintings, if not all). One could look at it when stressed and feel calm.
ReplyDeleteAh, the search for the perfect paper. How nice to have a sample set to play with.
hello dear Sheila,
DeleteThank you for your lovely thoughts.
Yes, the perfect paper…. I find good quality paper makes for better art. Plus for fun to create on. I refuse to use paper that can not handle water, it is just not fun.
Oh, that's wonderful. I'd love a ladder to a cloud! I have some paper by Legion -- haven't used it yet (I wanted to get better!) I may have to improve fast!
ReplyDeleteHello Jeanie,
DeleteMy suggestion is: do not wait to use better paper! It might be the thing that makes your art better. Good paper makes the experience nicer, you can do things with it that you can not with poor quality paper. Try it today ;-)
Tammie, that is a wonderful interpretation and well done too. I love your minimalist, surreal feel to your pieces as of late and the write up even rather matches it.
ReplyDeleteThat paper package would be so great to tuck into and start painting on. Enjoy!
Thank you for your lovely almost gem like looking piece!
Hello Michael. Thank you for enjoying this piece. Now I see the minimalist and gem like quality to it, thank you for that. I am attempting to create that in my home too, maybe someday ;-).
DeleteThe paper is inspiring and the folder would be a nice to store store the art afterwards. I am quite happy with it. In the end I think it would be nice to have a favorite paper and be done with choosing and spend all time creating.
Love your dreamy ladder scene up to the heavens Tammie. Your new papers sound wonderful have fun with them.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine,
DeleteThank you for enjoying this.
Tammie, I love this and for some reason my first thought was Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven."
ReplyDeleteI love your gentle background and beautiful colors. . . . . . a much prettier place to meditate than any rock and roll song can conjure!
New paper is so exciting. When I worked in advertising/commercial art, I spent a lot of time buying/trying papers at the art supply shop. I loved it when paper company reps came buy to push their products and left me with wonderful samples to play with!
Happy week - Mary
Hello Mary,
DeleteThank you for enjoying this piece and reminding me of the Stairway to heaven art.
I agree, paper can be exciting and using nice paper inspires better art. Or maybe even makes better art. Samples are exciting. These came packaged beautifully too.
Love this! I would climb that ladder for sure.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I would climb the ladder. I remember dreaming of playing on clouds as a child. Then my father pointed out that I would fall right through. Imagine my surprise!
DeleteStairway to the clouds...I think I could meditate on this one a long time. I love the woman pondering the climb.
ReplyDeleteThank you Wanda.
DeleteTammie,
ReplyDeleteA very soft, relaxing picture. The lady has such a wonderful dreamy look. I don't know if she needs to climb the ladder to the cloud - as she seems to be peaceful all ready. Love your choice of colours.
Blessings

You know what they say about meditation, it is practice for how to be in life. Fun that you see she is already in that state.
DeleteI love this! So imaginative and restful...perfect for meditation! Nice work, Tammie!
ReplyDeleteThank you Serena.
DeleteSuch peaceful, relaxing colors. And the idea of resting on a cloud is so inviting!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joeks. I like the idea of resting on a cloud as well.
Groetjes Christiene.
Tammie, beautifully drawn, a beautiful place to see everything
But to me too high ..... height of fear,
The paper looks luxurious from beautiful.
Wish you good luck with making new things.
Greetings Christiene.
Oh, sorry to hear about your fear of heights. This piece might not be so relaxing for you to ponder. Thank you for your kind message.
DeleteI absolutely LOVE your take on the theme, Tammie. I want to climb the ladder to see what magical place is behind the cloud. Wonderful! :)
ReplyDeletePlease, feel free to climb the ladder Alexandra. I would love to hear of your experience.
DeleteI wonder if that's what it's like when meditating - a feeling like you're floating above. Having a ladder is so inviting. This is a gorgeous scene.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you will try to meditate and find out what it feels like.
DeleteFor me it is a mix of floating and rooted, relaxed yet enlivened. Present, not in the past or future. To sit tall but not ridged. Focusing on ones breath is helpful. It is a training to carry into all of life.
Thank you for enjoying Lorraine.
Lovely comments from all your blogger-friends climbing virtual and sensitive this inviting ladder!
ReplyDeleteA peaceful quiet scene - going to the clouds without any troubles.
I agree Dori, lovely messages.
DeleteThank you for your thoughts.
The new paper may give life to many amazing and lovely Tammie-watercolours!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dori. There is one sheet of 22 different papers, so lots of testing and enjoying to come. I hope I can remember which ones I like the most and settle on one or two. I often use Hot Press: HP. It is a smooth paper. This one is Cold Press: CP a rough texture which I found gives a different look to the paints that I like. There are tiny shadows and light every where because of the texture.
