the other day
i sketched this piece
thinking it a whimsical tree
the next day i woke with a neck ache that felt like my neck was broken
about 6 weeks ago
i was driving the highway at night
at 65 MPH my car spun out on black ice
car was totalled
my neck snapped hard to the side and then the other
smashing into the window
i was so lucky to walk away unbroken
but still lots of continuing issues with my bones
i thought it so interesting that i drew this
then
the next day i needed my hands to hold my head up
so as not to experience the pain
so as not to experience the pain
wonderful how aware our instincts can be so accurate

Love the painting, but sorry to hear about your neck, feel well soon! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletethank you Valerie
DeleteSorry about the accident, I'm glad you weren't badly hurt but I hope your neck feels better soon.
ReplyDeletethank you Sarah, it is a bit amazing that i survived this accident, thankfully so!
DeleteSorry you experienced an accident like that, must have been scary. Love your whimsical tree painting.
ReplyDeleteIt was scary, you are so right, spinning out of control, could not even see the world i was going so fast.
DeleteThank you Ann.
Whiplash sometimes can be delayed. How clever your body was warning you. The tree is lovely and I am sure the eye is a caring one, looking out for you. The tree trunk is so grounded. I like the little trees in the background. Speedy recovery
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of this being whiplash, i think you are right. Sure is no fun. I was so surprised as i sat there painting this piece and realized it was me, literally holding my head to get up from laying down. I laughed out loud. I have found this in my art so many times, were over days it has messages for me. I suppose our unconscious gets involved in so many parts of our lives. Thank you for your thoughts on this piece and your good wishes.
DeleteWell, first, Whew. I am so very, very grateful you were not hurt more seriously (as in dead) but oh, my! That sounds simply wretched and so frightening. I've been totaled and I've been spun around but never the two together -- and those were scary enough. I would imagine that every bone in your body hurts. Did you have concussion, too? Yes, I would agree with the whiplash assessment.
ReplyDeleteYour painting is lovely. Filled -- as so many of your illustrations -- with a joy and beauty and light that makes my heart sing. Sometimes we all need to hold our heads up -- I'm just sorry that is manifesting itself for you literally. Don't you believe that sometimes we create from a deeper part of our gut and soul that we can even know at the time? I think that happened here. Please be careful and take care.
Thank you Jeanie, i am grateful too! No concussion, amazing though.
DeleteYe,s i do believe we create from a deeper part of ourselves sometimes. It is really fun for art or life to reveal our 'ah ha's' to us. I am being careful and am wary of night driving at the moment.
Tammie, I am glad this story did not have the worst possible ending. Dang girl! I spun out once, and have hated driving on the ice ever since. The tree has a smile on it's face as it holds up your head, so that's a good sign. Better see a doctor though, if the neck continues in pain, perhaps you will have to wear a dreaded neck brace for awhile.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeri, I am glad it did not have the worst possible ending as well. It is something to be in an experience where you know you could have left this world. Spinning on ice is an experience alright, at any speed, but on the highway, well i will never crave a carnival ride again. I am seeing a chiropractor that is helping some, thank goodness.
DeleteThat really is interesting, yes. But your tree looks very serene and happy, and I can imagine you didn't really feel that way while holding your head. Lucky that you weren't too badly injured, hope the neck heals quickly!
ReplyDeleteDear Tammie!
ReplyDeleteFirst: Thanks goodness you survived! I'm very distressed to hear about that accident!
This painting is amazing. Sometimes our art knows things, we know later. This is real soul-art. I appreciate your work and spiritual views and thoughts. I feel in your work always peace and freedom and balance and friendship to creatures and soul.
Best wishes for you! Greetings from the forest!
I saw this piece and loved it. it's whimsical but there's a calmness there, I think with her subtle smile.
ReplyDeletehope you're feeling a lot better now. have a lovely day.
Dear Tammie, sad to hear that you are still having problems with your injuries. Isn't it amazing how you painted this before you woke with the neck ache. The body is very clever, and is also good at healing itself, best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, what bad luck and good luck at the same time! I wish you fast healing Tammie! :-)
