I did this series of ink sketches with the same theme
a woman escaping feelings of sadness and pain
wanting what she thought would bring her good feelings
and thus the word 'swoon' arose
this is the poem that inspired the drawings:
take flight
she wanted to fly to the heavens
maybe sit on the moon
be with the stars that twinkle in the sky
laugh with the heavens and swoon
yet it was not time for that flight
the rooted trees held firm to her
the task was set
open to the earthly plane
allow it to permeate her soul
~

it is always interesting for me to do more than one piece on a similar theme
if you feel comfortable sharing:
do you like one of the drawings more than the others?
can you tell me why?
~
I hope you had fun with this theme!
this weekend
please visit our friends who are sharing art for 'Swoon':
thank you Ariane for inspiring us to share in Drawing Challenge!

I love this so much! It reminds me of the story of Apollo and Daphne, but so much better! Wonderful.
ReplyDeletethank you Sarah! fun that it reminds you of another story.
ReplyDeleteA nice series of drawings, Tammie. The first one is my favorite. I do like the tree as a person. And of course the song "Fly me to the moon"passed my mind. " :) - eric
ReplyDeletethank you Eric. I am enjoying hearing which one each of you likes.
DeleteYour drawings are so imaginative and mystical and so well done. I love looking at all the details, the flowers, the leaves, the birds and I think I see a fairy. I also love your poem, I like the idea of the tree protecting her from herself.
ReplyDeleteWhich one do I prefer? - the second, because the tree looks friendly, the bird is looking on and the girl looks happy where she is, talking to the moon.
hello sheila 77,
Deletethank you for enjoying the details and poem, yes there are a couple fairies, hard to see at this small size. it really is fun to re-look your preference and why anew.
held by a tree.... sometimes when i walk outside, amongst the trees... i wonder. and my imagination travels further, right down to the few bits of LORDS OF THE RING that i ever saw, when the trees come up for their rights. so, i think i'd just swoon whilest swooning, if ever that would happen on my walk near the woods... and i would surely be thinking of you too, lady... i think image 1 is it! n♥
ReplyDeleteyou took me on a journey with the trees n♥
Deleteand inspired a smile
I'd like the first one the most. Because she is reaching out, going further and the tree gives her stille a save, confort place. The tree holds her in his arms like saying, it's ok, what ever you decide to do. Thank you Tammie, right know I would like to have a lot of arms around me. So these images are welcome. I like your lines, steady, powerfull.
ReplyDeletesending you arms, just the right amount
Deletethank you Joke
I like the original - the third version listed here - but the second one also is pretty good. I'm thinking the second and third is a night scene where as the first one seems to be more day scene? I think seeing it color might change my mind.
ReplyDeletehope you have a sweet day.
p.s., you may perhaps make the links to the participants to open in new window so that we don't have to go back to your page, just something to think about.
ReplyDeletehow do i do that lissa?
Deletethe way i do that is to ( i have an apple computer) hold down the command key as i click on the link and it opens in a new tab.
thanks for the suggestion.
I thought I add the reply here just in case anyone want to know - in blogger while you're writing your draft, click on 'Link' --- one of the menus at top --- add the url and check the box with 'Open this link in a new window' -- that's it.
DeleteWonderful art and storytelling with each drawing. I love your work!
ReplyDeleteThese are definitely the most wonderful Tammie! My most favourite one is the first one. It's the reaching for the moon, the watchful "eyes" I see int he tree, and the little fairies stretching their hands up ready to be the safety net. Also, it reminds me of a year of pairs figure skating in my 14 year figure skating career. Wish I had those safety net fairies to catch me when Denis invariably dropped me! But thank you so much for hosting. :D
ReplyDeleteTammie you've got my wrong blog name: it's: spiegel-beeld.blogspot.nl
ReplyDeleteI so love your drawings inspired by this theme. The first one is my favorite, although it's hard to choose. I like it how the tree really looks like a person, and the happy look on her face. It's what I like about the second one too. Magical and original ....
ReplyDeleteSimply wonderful sketch! I like the third the best. Very dreamy and great depth!
ReplyDeleteHappy new week!
I love all of these--That first one is so lovely...I feel so inspired. Before I read your wonderful poetry, I saw a woman dancing with the tree--like a ballerina with her lover. He held her so gently and in my mind helped her as she danced toward the sky. :D But that was before I read the beauty in your words, and understood the meaning behind these drawings.
ReplyDeletedear Tammie
ReplyDeletethank you for this fine theme
it was in my mind the whole week
and about your queston
i like your first drawing best
the tree is still a tree, no face
the holding and her trust in his branches
yep, favorite!
x
Oh wow! I think they're all lovely! I love trees, they hold her yet they might be helping her rise higher too. :) Your imagination is wonderful. Jess xx
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely dainty, almost fairy lie style. Very sweet and intriguing. Keep up the good work. I like the top pic especially but all are great. :)
ReplyDeleteSwoon, btw, is an excellent art co-op challenge. love it. Best of luck on your onw art co-op. Glad I came across this.
thank you so much Michael.
Deleteso nice to have you stop by.
Love the drawings as a series .. Taking flight in every sense of the word as depicted in each ... There is nothing like being in top of the world . That is the sense I saw in the final (??) third of the series and yes u would love to begin participating
ReplyDeleteI loved hearing from you all and about your favorite, that was fun for me.
