numen:
the spirit or divine power presiding over a thing or place
some call it a guardian spirit
*
I have always enjoyed the spirit of rocks
(Montana has such beautiful rocks, like the pastel ones above)
also known as:
divine presence
referring to the idea of magical power residing in an object or place
referring to the idea of magical power residing in an object or place
portraying
or hinting at spirit in art
is one of my favorite things to do:
consider the spirit of a birthday cake:
when we pause to feel, sense, mingle with the numen in life
whether in a forest, beach, home, flower or stone
it is my sense that we quiet,
deepen our stance, listen, feel
become present,
our life force expands
the spirit of life is more tangible,
intimacy is born
become present,
our life force expands
the spirit of life is more tangible,
intimacy is born

ReplyDeleteHi Tammie wish you a very happy new year and agree with Nadine those rocks are amazing, those colors! And you choose a big theme to start the dc this year. Never heard the word numen before. Thus the dc provides something new to learn too. Yes count me in please.

Thank you for the invitation to join the DC this week. I'd be happy to join in!
ReplyDeleteHello Tammie, thanks for inviting me to your next DC theme! Numen! I have to admit that I had to look that up first, then, when realizing what it means, I got a bit awed by it...but as huge as the meaning might be, so wide-ranged may be the possibility of interpretation...so count me in, please!
ReplyDeleteYay,hello kindred, of course I love this theme...feels like home to me! I love the images in this posting and your art..yes you always hint at this beautiful world in your art..which I love!

ReplyDelete~she may just be one of my favorite ones you have created thus far...she sings of the delicate freshness of life...spring delicately peeking through...I love the contrast of your writing with the flowers in bloom...much love light and blessings~
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that so many of you will join in for this prompt!
ReplyDeletehello dear Victoria,
I am so glad you are joining in.
I should have mentioned that one can share in any medium they wish, words, photography, drawings, paintings. That is how the DC folk have it set up. I usually share art.... as in paintings or drawings with a photo thrown in once in a while. So however you are inspired by numen will be perfect.
thank you all for enjoying the photos and art!
lovely week to you!
Tammie
Love the photo with the rocks under the ice. So collorfull.
ReplyDeleteAnd your drawing is so beautiful.
Liefs, Melanie
OK hope the poetic numen be with us all in this DC thanks for the invite!
ReplyDeleteWow! I am awed too... have never tried something like this...would love to try, please include me too!
ReplyDeleteLove the stones beneath the ice and the sky.
Tammie, Montana does have incredibly coloured rocks! I'm in awe of them every time I see your images. At first glance at your thumbnail, I thought the rocks below the ice were spools of thread! I LOVE the inspiration of numen and would love to participate! Please count me in Tammie! Looking forward to this!
ReplyDeleteHi Tammie...incidentally, I've just started working on something that might just fit the challenge. I doubt it will be very advanced, but I'll be delighted to share with the group! :) A big hug to you! :)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you are feeling. I have felt numen myself many times while outside... Those are the times my breath gets taken away, and a tear forms in my eyes, and I sigh, "Ah, this is what life is all about and I am happy to be in it!"
ReplyDeleteYour images and art both reflect this so well!
Count me in!
