he is a young genie
spunky
more sure of himself than is wise
his determination for adoration
pushed him
revealing his weaknesses
and
bruising his pride
this began as a sketch
in a wee book (5.5"x7")
page coated in Casein white paint
then i smeared oil pastels here and there
and rubbed
added watercolors
straight from the tube
i thought i was done here:
nope, final it the top image
~
not until i took this photo did i read the words
of this page
perhaps it would be good to read this beautiful book
before i cover it with art!

ReplyDeleteI love your shadows here! In the last one did you add more yellow, or is it just the light and the light exposure of the camera?
Also I like much the words in the back :)

ReplyDeleteViola:
The last photo where there is yellow, well i thought that was the completion of this piece, that i was done... but then i kept going. So it looked like that at one stage. The top photo is the completed piece and i could easily continue and do more to that one. funny how that is sometimes.
thank you for asking.
I want to paint in an old book, what a cool idea! He looks great in it! Really like those yellow highlights!

I've been buying old books and hope to do this someday: filling in pages with art work. I love how there is a glimmer in his eyes and smile!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for your thoughts on my blog post. Your comment reminded me of the true problem: I had not cleaned up after my last two projects.
