this is a face that i began the end of April
i drew it with inktense pencils and took a brush with gesso to the pencil
to turn it to paint
something that was wonderful:
her eye, the one to the left was seriously wonky
so i covered it with gesso
sketched it new
and i feel better about it
it is a good experience to simply paint over something and give it another go
very freeing

A wonderful work! And I love her brown hair! I am glad for having found the gesso! I too have made corrections like that, and it's fun to experience with gesso I think :)
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to experiment and discover new things you can accomplish with a medium. Horray for Mr. Gesso for saving this lovely blue lady! :))
ReplyDeleteGood old gesso, what a hero to save a damsel in distress. I know hes always been there to resue my ladies too(and hes resued a few now!).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outcome though, something about that blue.
A blue face ... like the sky.
ReplyDeleteThe hair and the earth ...
Fascinating!
Great work, and good job on fixing the eye ;)
ReplyDeleteAlways a good feeling to have one piece done.
Have a lovely day!

Beautiful!! I've never tried painting these pencils with gesso--and I love this look--I'm going to try this--thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't tell that you redid the eye, looks good to me. I'm liking your 29 faces project.
ReplyDeletehope you have a sweet spring.
I love using those Inktense pencils the colours are so very bright and cover well don't they? It's a brave thing to redo parts of a painting but so very satisfying when it turns out better! :)
