Ochres and Pinks

surrounded in waves of ochre and gold
energy spheres hold stories of old
protecting and guiding
each step of the way
leading to pinks
of light that hold sway
each step
a journey
to the sacred inner life
for you me and all
essential birthright
~

I enjoyed letting a poetry prompt; ochre
inspire this piece. I had already done the sketch and was uncertain of my next step.
Then I remembered that our OSI prompt was a color this week....
the shading of her face,  painting all else along with the poem flowed through as I considered ochre and the spirit of this piece.

This piece has lots of sparkly paint and the scan was so far from true color,
so I took a photo of the art, a bit closer to reality.
I liked this piece better before i put eyelashes on her....
live and learn.

  1. very pretty; i like how the waves behind her head are the same angle as her hair; reminds me of the religious paintings of those with the truth having the auras about them.

  2. hello Ascender,
this made me think of religious art as well, mother Mary even... but really for me, everyone has auras of energy surrounding, protecting, guiding. And so mundane life is full of lovely energies. Thank you for your visit and wonderful comment.

  8. A beautiful goddess; the sparkle does make it feel like the gold leaf you find on so many religious icons. Love the braids, those wise, compassionate eyes, and all those gorgeous echoing sounds of your accompanying poem. Hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend!

  23. Very lovely, do you finish one piece of art and then start another, or do you have lots of work in process ?

  24. Hi Tammie,
Great work ... I love that her hair and her eyes are very similiar in colour ... it keeps your eyes in that space and connects the whole piece.

  31. The kids love dancing Shasha, it is more to learning, left, right, up, down etc.

A new Indian boy who doesn't know much English dance it like Bollywood.

You must be spending a lot on arts equipment.
